Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and a Beautiful Friendship

Mike's friend Elizabeth...that beautiful lady who was like a warm cuddly blanket to him. I believe they were true soulmates and no doubt, eternal friends. Since June 25, 2009, I have often thought about the day of her passing and what a joyous celebration it would be for them to be reunited in spirit! She was by far the best friend Michael ever had and she was his most loyal advocate. She knew him better than anybody and never hesitated to speak up on his behalf. God knew he needed a friend like her. She was so devastated by his death, I am happy for both of them that they are at last together again. Two beautiful free spirits! I am only sad for us that we will no longer have her here to speak her mind. She was a bold, beautiful, no-nonsense kind of woman. I loved that about her! Yes, she will be missed...

I just need to say

And the tears

You can see right through
To everything in me there is to see

You know me inside and out
You’ve heard me cry
You’ve heard me shout
And you’ve seen me smile
At what you are about

I just wanna thank you
For being my friend
For staying with me

Such loyalty and trust

So, forgive me if I make a fuss

I don’t think anyone knew how much we loved each other... The purest most giving love I’ve ever known. Oh God! I’m going to miss him... I can’t yet imagine life with out him. But I guess with God’s help… I’ll learn."

Welcome to A Brand New World!

Thank you for taking the time to visit and read some of my poems and reflections. This site was created out of a surprising turn of events and circumstances which occurred in the summer of 2009. These events took me on an eye-opening, soul-awakening journey which led to a totally unexpected and previously undiscovered gift. It seems I had an inner poet just waiting for the right moment in time to make itself known!

Before December of 2009 when my first poem came through me, I would have been the last person in the world to consider myself the creative type. Even then, I doubted that I would ever write another verse in rhyme or otherwise because I thought it was just a fluke. I cherished that first little verse - my memoir of a very powerful spiritual retreat at the coast that Christmas. I was ready to create a frameable copy with the notation "Christmas Retreat 2009 - My one and only poem for all time!" Little did I know that God had more in store for me. A couple of weeks later as I was getting ready for work one morning, I had something that was weighing heavily on my heart, and before I knew it, the words of a poem began to flow. I quickly grabbed a pen and paper and wrote as fast as the words came. From that point on, I realized that something new had awakened in me and it was here to stay! There have been many more poems since that day and there will be many more to come, I am sure. What you see here is only a sample of what has already been written. I hope to continue writing and sharing as long as God continues to give me things to write about!

I feel so blessed to have found this new form of expression. There's just something about putting your thoughts and feelings in poetic form that is very healing - cathartic really. Many of my poems are inspired by nature or circumstances in my life or the world that have touched me or sparked a passion in me. All are based in the amazing Love of God which has made itself more and more known to me throughout my life.

I hope you will enjoy your visit here at A Brand New World and will leave a comment or two if you are so moved. By sharing what has inspired me, I hope that you too will be inspired, and you will feel a little more light has entered your heart as you leave here.
